New work by J.D. Carpenter to be released in April 2020!
In this sequel to The County Murders, Joe Horn, reporter for the Saybrook Independent, is asked by a friend to move into his cottage while he is away on business. The friend is afraid that the cottage, which is situated on an isolated island off of Prince Edward County’s south shore, might fall victim to thieves if left unoccupied. Eager to have some time and solitude to work on a novel, Joe agrees.
All goes well until Joe discovers that fifteen years earlier a previous owner of the island had been found dead in the cottage. As he digs deeper into the case, which was ruled a suicide by the local constabulary, Joe becomes convinced that there is more to the story and is soon obsessed by it, creating tension between him and his wife, and putting his life in danger.
